Buddhist scholars from many countries fly to Thailand to participate in an international conference organized in honor of His Holiness Somdet Phra Nyanasamvara, Supreme Patriarch’s 97th birthday.

Mahamakut Buddhist University International Conference 2010: Dissemination of Theravada Buddhism in the 21st Century

Convened as a part of the 117th Anniversary of Mahamakut Buddhist University and the 97th Birthday of His Holiness Somdet Phra Nyanasamvara, Supreme Patriarch of Thailand and President of Mahamakut Buddhist University Council

The present activities of the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka, reminiscent of the ancient pattern of education of Thaksila and Nalanda, will bring much fame to Sri Lanka in the future as a centre of Buddhist learning, President Mahinda Rajapaksa said.

For the ATBU second bi-annual conference, the ATBU secretariat has published most of articles and papers which are going to present during the conference into 2 books: the ATBU Journal & the ATBU Conference Volume. Also ATBU constitution is ready for distribution at the conference.

After a long bureaucratic process with the government of Thailand, the ATBU is finally registered by the Office of the National Culture Commission of the government of Thailand. The Registration Certificate of the ATBU is No 2/2552 dated 5 February B.E. 2552.
