The Executive Council meeting of the International Association of Theravada Buddhist Universities, IATBU was held on 16 June 2019 at the Sitagu International Buddhist Academy, Yangon Campus. The meeting was presided over by the Most Venerable Chairman, Sitagu Sayadaw Dr. Ashin Nyanissara Mahathero.
The meeting made following decisions:
(1) To hold the sixth international conference of the IATBU in Kathmandu with your college as the host on 20-22 November 2020;

The International Association of Theravada Buddhist Universities (IATBU) has committed to hold its international conference bi-annually. In 2016 is the time for 4th IATBU conference and the host country of this conference is Indonesia. With the support of General Director of Society Guidance, Ministry of Religious Affair of Republic Indonesia and Association of Indonesian Buddhist Colleges (APTABI), this 4th IATBU Conference will be held in Magelang City, Central Java, Indonesia, from 10-14 November 2016.

Upon hearing the sad news of the passing away of His Holiness, Somdet Phra Nyanasamvara Somdet Phra Sangharaja Sakalamahasanghaparinayaka the 19th Supreme Patriarch of Thailand, who turned centenarian in October 2013, sorrow and surprise nearly shocked me bodily and mentally. Allow me to give my condolences to and co-miserations with His Holiness's relatives, friends and associates for their bereavements.

Dear Venerable Sirs,

We, the International Association of Theravada Buddhist University (IATBU), have learnt with a profound shock that His Holiness Somdet Phra Nyanasamvara, the 19th Supreme Patriarch of Thailand, has passed away on Thursday 24th October 2013 having just become a remarkable centenarian on 3 October 2013. We join the whole Buddhist followers of the Thai Kingdom in mourning the learned, ever-mindful and highly revered Supreme Patriarch.
